The Friday Five is a new series were I share what I consider are the week’s top-five money related articles from around the web. There are a lot of great personal finance websites publishing amazing content daily. I hope you enjoy my five favorite articles of the week.
If you haven’t, please read my latest post on Ten Simple Ways To Save Money and please follow me on Twitter and like Million Dollar Ninja on Facebook.
In no particular order here are The Friday Five
1. John Schmoll at Wise Dollar writes, Three Reasons Why You Need an Emergency Fund. I loved this post because having an emergency fund should be top priority for any household. Whether you want it or not, financial emergencies happen all the time and if you don’t have any savings then you might have to rely on credit cards. Funny thing is that before I had an emergency fund I used to run into financial problems all the time. Sometimes I had to borrow money from friends to be able to fix my car or pay a bill. But after I started building my emergency fund, all those emergencies seem to have gone away. So maybe an Emergency Fund is an emergency repellent.
2. J. Money at Budgets Are Sexy writes, The Power of Doing Just *ONE* Thing. Here he talks about five simple ways to become a millionaire. He shows how you can reach a million dollars in savings by doing any of the top four – the last one is a fun dream to have. What I like about this post is that it reminds us that accomplishing our financial goals is simple but it takes time. Becoming a millionaire won’t happen over night – unless you accomplish #5. If we stick to a saving regimen we will be able to retire like kings.
3. Julie at Millennial Cents writes, Traveling the Wold on a Budget. I’ve always wanted to travel the world, but unfortunately never had the funds to do it. Maybe some day Kate and I will take a break from work and travel, but for now one or two weeks vacation is all we get. In this article Julie has some great tips on how to probably keep your job while traveling, choosing the right place to go, woking abroad and saving. Maybe some day I’ll have enough savings that I’ll be able to follow her foot steps.
4. Sarah Winfrey at Wise Bread writes, This Is the Secret to Buying Electronics for Cheap. In this age of technology, we all want to have the latest gadgets. She writes on how to get them for cheap. This is a great article that debunks some myths of refurbished items but also show you which used items you should think twice about.
5. Catherine Alford at Young Adult Money writes, The Benefits of Spring Cleaning Your Finances. This post shows us how important it is to stay on top of our finances. We don’t have to keep checking our finances everyday like a mad person but we should check everything every quarter or every season to make sure everything is in order.
Please check out all these great articles and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
Don’t forget to check out The Friday Five every week.
