Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is probably my favorite Holiday because it is all about giving thanks and spending time with family and loved ones – while eating as much as possible.  There are other good Holidays, but you usually have to buy gifts for people… I’m looking at you Christmas and Hanukkah.

Since Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks, I want to take this opportunity and give thanks for a few people.

Giving Thanks

Love – I first want to give thanks for and to my lovely fiancee, Kate.  She’s the one who has to deal with all my silliness on a daily basis.  I think I’m the funniest person in the world and even though she still laughs at most of my shenanigans, I have a slight suspicion that she doesn’t think I’m as funny as I think I am.

She’s also my Editor-in-chief and my personal Chef to which I’m extremely grateful for.  It is good to have somebody read my posts before I publish them because she catches a lot of mistakes and makes me sound better than I really am.  And who doesn’t love good food?

Family – I want to give thanks for my family.  There are times when we disagree with each other, but we are always there for each other no matter what.  I’m also thankful that we were able to go on vacation together and not kill each other.

I’m not only grateful for my immediate family, but also for my extended family… and we’re a LOT.  That is one stereotype about Latinos that rings true in my family.  If I count only my mom and dad’s siblings I would run out of fingers and toes because they are over 20.  And they all have kids and some of those kids have kids of their own.  There’s a lot of us and I’m grateful for that because family gatherings are a lot of fun.

Friends – I want to give thanks for my friends.  I’ve met at lot of great people in the few years that I’ve been in this world and I appreciate each and every one of them.  There are some that I’ve lost touch with, but I have them in my heart forever.  To those who are still in touch with me, thank you for your friendship and your support.

To those who owe me money: just because I love you doesn’t mean you don’t have to pay… just saying.

Pets – I want to give thanks for my pets.  My turtles don’t care about me, they just want food, but my cats really love me.  They obviously don’t write me love songs to show me their love, but they purr and drool all over me whenever I’m around.

They help me relax and when they lay on my lap I can use them to get out of doing some things.  “Aldo, can you take out the trash?” “Aww, Midnight just sat on me, I feel bad moving her right away.”  I still have to take out the trash, but at least it gives me a few minutes to relax.

Giving Thanks for more

I also want to give thanks for having a job because I know there are a lot of people who don’t have one.  I’m also thankful for living some place that allows me to live a pretty stress free life because there are a lot of people who live in rough places.

I’m also thankful that I will be able to spend Thanksgiving with my family and that we will have a nice dinner to celebrate the day.  Some people don’t have this opportunity.
